Daisy Bookmark

This lacy and pretty bookmark is made up of 5 daisies attached as they are made. This bookmark is the perfect page keeper for those spring reads.

Materials Needed:
Small amount each green white and yellow size 10 crochet cotton. South maid was used in the example.
Size 7 steel crochet hook.
Tapestry needle
spray starch & iron

Yarn Thickness: 10thread
Gauge: 1 daisy =1¼" diameter
Finished Size: = 8"x2½"
Skill Level: Intermediate

Instructions
1st Daisy
RND 1: With yellow, ch2, work 12 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with slst to first sc. Fasten off yellow.

RND 2: Join White and * ch3, dc in 3rd ch from hook, twice. Sc in next sc. Rep from * around. Fasten off. 12 petals.

Second Daisy
The rest of the daisies are worked the same way as the first on but on the 2nd rnd, you will join the daisy to the previous on e made at the tips of each petal. Work in the following manner.

RND 2: Join white, (Ch 3, dc in 3rd ch from hook. Sc in tip of petal on previous daisy, ch 3, slst in 3rd ch from hook and sc in next sc.) rep() one more time. Continue as in rnd two of first daisy around.

Third - fifth daisies,
Join third through fifth daisy the same way leaving 4 petals free on either side and joining on two petals to create a straight "string" of daisies. See picture for clarification.
Do this until you have a total of 5 daisies joined. At this point Weave in all the ends.

Outer area
To see where to start the outer edge, lay the string of daisies down in front of you horizontally. You will join green thread in first free petal on the further most daisy to the left.

RND 1: (Ch3 sc in next petal. 9 times) around first daisy. [Ch6, *sc in next free petal on next daisy. Ch3, sc in next petal 3 times.] Rep[], then repeat from beg to where you started from. Join w/slst to first ch of ch3.

RND 2: Slst to center of first ch3, sc in same sp. Ch4, *sc in next ch3sp. Ch4. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first sc.

RND 3: Slst to center of first ch4 sp, sc in same sp. Ch4. *Sc in next ch4 sp. Ch4. Rep from *around. Join w/slst to first sc.

RND 4: Sl st in first ch4 sp. Work the fol in the same sp and in each ch4 sp around. (2sc, ch3, slst in 3rd ch from hk, 2sc.) Join w/slst to first sc. Fasten off and weave ends into work.

Starch lightly with spray starch and an iron to keep it's shape.
