Paper Bead Making
These instructions are for making beads from any type of paper. The basic techniques are the same no matter what paper you use or what the designs are on the paper that you use.You will need some basic materials to make your beads. This is where you can be very creative and experiment with different papers, cutting methods and finishes.
In this section you will learn how to choose paper, paper bead rolling tools, glues and finishes. You can also learn advanced techniques like making large holed beads like those pretty Pandora style beads that have the metal cores.
You will find out how I glaze my beads and what I use to dry them. I have glazed them by hand, one at a time and also by dipping them. I actually prefer dipping them but there are certain times when you should brush the glaze on like when you are coating your beads with 2 part epoxy resin to make them really water proof.
Wander around this section and see what you can make with strips of paper! Once you get started making them, it will be hard to stop!
Back in August 1996, in an issue of Crafts magazine, I found an ad for a crank style paper bead roller, called "The Bead Crafter". I was so intrigued with the idea of making paper beads with paper, that I decided to order the Bead Crafter for my birthday which is September 1.
