Filet Floral Bookmark Designed By Julie A. Bolduc

This bookmark was designed according to a description of one that Diana McDonald requested I design. I hope this is what she had in mind.

Edging.
Sc in corner sp. Ch3, slst in 3rd ch from hook (pic made). Sc in same sp. Work the following in each row down the left side, across the bottom, up the right side and across the top. (sc, pic, sc). Work the foll in each corner sp. (sc, pic, sc, pic, sc, pic, sc). When you get to the very first corner sp, you will already have one pic so work the fol in this sp. (sc, pic, sc, pic, slst to first sc.) fasten off White and weave ends into work.

Vine and Flowers
This is where you can be creative and have the vine go in any direction you would like.

Lay the book mark out in front of you so the bottom is facing you and the right side is up. You will start the vine at the bottom of the book mark on the 3rd dc across from the edge.
Tie green thread on the very bottom of the dc. Ch4, dc in 3rd ch from hook, ch2, slst in same ch as dc. (leaf made)
Ch6, slst to background up one row and over to the right one sp to where it shows on the picture.
Ch 4, slst in sp up one row and over to the right one sp. Leaf.
Ch 8. Slst in sp up two rows and over one sp to the left.
Ch 6. Slst in sp up 2 rows and over one sp to the right but slst on the dc of that sp. Leaf.
Ch 7. Slst in sp up 3 rows and over one sp to the right.
Ch5. Slst up one row and over one sp to the left.
Ch5. Slst in dc up one row and over to the left one sp.
Ch6. Slst to dc up 3 rows.
Ch6. Slst to dc up 2 rows and over one sp to the left. Leaf.
Ch5. Slst to dc up one row and over to the right one sp. You should be at the very top of the book mark. Right where you have worked the edging. Ch1, turn.

Now you are going to work down the vine slst in each st as you go. The following numbers between the word leaf indicate how many slsts to work to the next leaf.
11, leaf, 5,leaf,7,leaf,15,16. You should be one or two sts away from the first leaf you made. Work a leaf in the last st. Fasten off and weave ends into work.

Flowers Make 3.
Ch6, slst in first ch from hook. Sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, sc in next ch, slst in last ch. Petal Made. Rep from beg 6 more times. Slst to first ch of first petal. Fasten off leaving a 12" length. Weave the 12" length through the first chs to gather up the center. Gather tightly. Using the ends, attach the flowers to the vine according to the picture. Weave ends back through petals on flowers. Trim close.
