Decorated Christmas Tree

This tree is made in separate layers then each layer is pinned to a styrofoam cone. It is a fun and easy tree to make and when you are done with it, it is already decorated!
Materials Needed
Worsted weight acrylic yarn in Hunter Green. Red Heart was used in the example
144 assorted plastic Beads with holes big enough to fit a yarn needle through
Tapestry Needle
Large styrofoam cone 9"hx3 7/3"w at base
Size H/8 5mm aluminum crochet hook
1 tree top star
Small ball head pins at least 6 per layer. 48 at least.
Yarn Thickness: 4mm
Gauge: 4sc=1"
Finished Size: 10" high
Skill Level: Intermediate
Instructions
This is made in separate layers then each layer is placed on the cone from the bottom up. Work from the bottom layer up.
Starting at Bottom:
Layer1: Slip on 18 beads using the tapestry needle.
RND 1: Ch42. Join w/slst to first ch to form 1 big ring. Ch2. Hdc in each ch around. Join w/slst to top of ch2.
RND 2: Ch3. dc in each st around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 3: Ch1. Dc in next st. Bring up a bead, ch1, dc, ch2, bring up bead, ch2, dc in next st, bring up a bead. Ch1. Dc in next st. *Sc in next. Dc in next st. bring up bead, ch1, dc, ch2, bead, ch2, dc in next st. Bead, ch1. Dc in next st. Sc in next st. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1. Fasten off. Weave ends into back of work.
Layer 2: String on 18 beads.
RND 1: Ch36. Join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch3. Dc in each ch around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 2: Ch3. Dc in each dc around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 3: Ch3. Dc in same st as slst. Ch2. 2 dc in next st. Ch2. Dc, bring up a bead, dc in next st. Ch2. Bring up a bead. Ch2. Dc, bring up a bead, dc innext st. Ch2. 2dc in next st. Ch3. Slst in 3rd ch from hook. *2dc in next st. Ch2. 2dc in next st. Ch2. Dc, bring up a bead, dc in next st. Ch2. Bring up a bead. Ch2. dc, bring up a bead, dc in next st. Ch2. 2dc i next st. Ch2. 2dc in next st. Ch3. Slst in 3rd ch from hook. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off. Weave ends into back of work.
Layer 3: String on 18 beads.
RND 1: Ch30. Join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch3. Dc in each ch around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 2: Ch3. Dc in each dc around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 3: Ch3. Dc in same st as slst. Ch2. 2dc in next dc. Bring up a bead. Dc, ch2, bring up a bead, ch2, dc in next dc. Bring up a bead. 2dc in next dc. Ch2. 2dc in next dc. Layers 4 & 5: Make 2 the same way for layer 4 & 5. String on 18 beads.
RND 1: Ch24. Join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch3. Dc in each ch around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 2: Ch3. Dc in each dc around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 3: Ch3. Dc in same st as slst. (Ch2. Dc, bring up a bead, dc in next dc. Ch2. Bring up a bead. Ch2. Dc, bring up a bead, dc in next dc. Ch3. Slst in 3rd ch from hook.) *2dc in next dc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off. Weave ends into back of work.
Layers 6 & 7: Make 2 the same way for layer 6 & 7. String on 18 beads.
RND 1: Ch18. Join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch3. Dc in each ch around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 2: Ch3. Dc in each dc around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 3: Ch3. Dc in same st as slst. Bring up a bead. Dc, ch2, bring up a bead, ch2, dc in next dc. Bring up a bead. 2dc in next dc. Ch3. Slst in 3rd ch from hook. *2dc in next dc. Brin g up a bead. Dc, ch2, bring up a bead, ch2, dc in next dc. Brin gu p a bead. 2dc in next dc. Ch3, slst in 3rd ch from hook. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off. Weave ends into back of work.
Layer 8: String on 18 beads.
RND 1: Ch6. Join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch3. Dc in same st as slst. 2dc in each st around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 2: Ch3. Dc in each dc around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 3: Ch6, slst in 3rd ch from hook. Dc, bring up a bead, dc in next dc. Ch2. Bring up a bead. Ch2. Dc, bring up a bead, dc in next dc. *Ch3, slst in 3rd ch from hook. Dc, bring up a bead, dc in next dc. Ch2. Bring up a bead. Ch2. Dc, bring up a bead, dc in next dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to 3rd ch of ch6. Fasten off. Weave starting end through all stitches on the first round to gather up and close the opening. Weave ends into back of work.
Assembly
Starting with layer 1, place all layers on the tree over the top. You can pin or glue the layers to the cone if you desire. Attach star to top of tree.
