Lacy Trellises Doily

This doily looks like it has flower trellises all around it. I made this doily in about 4 hours and it really is not hard to do.

Materials Needed:
Size 10 Crochet Cotton. Southmaid in Cream was used in the example
Size 7 Steel crochet hook
Tapestry Needle

Thread Thickness: 10thread
Gauge: 8sc=1"
Finished Size: 9"diameter
Skill Level: Intermediate

Instructions
RND 1: Ch12, join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch6 (counts as ch5 plus a sc). Sc in ring. *Ch5, sc in ring. Rep from * 9 times more. Ch2, dc in first ch of ch6.

RND 2+3: Ch6. Sc in next ch5 sp. *Ch5. Sc in next ch5 sp. Rep from * 9 times more. Ch2, dc in first ch of ch6.

RND 4: Ch2. [(Dc, ch1) 6 times in next ch5 sp.] *Sc in next ch5 sp. Ch1. Rep between[ ] once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first ch of ch2.

RND 5: Slst to the first dc. Ch3. *Sc in next dc. Ch3. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first ch of ch3.

RND 6+7: Slst to the 2nd ch and into the first ch3 sp. Ch3. *Sc in next ch3 sp. Ch3. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first ch of ch3.

Sewing Thread Savers
These are also called, "beginners and enders", chargers, and perhaps a few other names. I love this tip and use it every day!. What are they? Little pieces of fabric that you begin and end stitching with at the beginning and end of your seams. I call them thread savers because they save your thread instead of pulling out 6 or more inches of thread, then cutting it, after you sew a seam, the little piece of fabric stays right under your presser foot. My tip is, I use the selveges from my fabric to use as thread savers. I make sure I have at least a 1 by 2 inch piece to fold in half to put under my presser foot. That is the only size you actually need. When the folded selvege piece is full of thread, just toss it in the trash. Actually, I toss it into my fabric recycle bag I save for use in stuffing things I make.
