Lacy Corners Square

This square is the first of the many 7" squares I plan to design. It's a really easy pattern that is just right for a beginner to try! Imagine using this design as a main pattern square in an afghan!

Materials Needed
Small amount Red Heart Super Sport yarn in baby blue.
Size G/6 4mm aluminum crochet hook
Yarn needle

Yarn Thickness 3mm
Gauge: 4sc=1"
Finished Size: 7"x7"
Skill Level: Beginner

Instructions
RND 1: Ch4, join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Slst into ring. Ch3, 2dc in ring. Ch2. *3dc in ring. Ch2. Rep from * 2 times more. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 2: Ch1. Sc in each of the next 2 dc. 2sc, ch2, 2sc in next ch2 corner sp. *Sc in each of the next 3dc. 2sc, ch2, 2sc in next ch2 corner sp. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1.

RND 3: Ch3. Dc in each of the next 2 sc. [(Yo, insert hook in next sc, draw up a lp, yo, draw through 2 lps on hook, yo, insert hook in next unworked sc, draw up a loop, yo, draw through 2 lps on hook, yo, insert hook in next ch2 corner sp, yo, draw up a lp, yo, draw through 2 lps on hook, yo draw through all lps on hook. "cluster clA made") Ch2. Dc, ch2, dc in same sp. Ch2. ((Yo, insert hook in same ch2 corner sp, yo, draw up a lp, yo, draw through 2 lps on hook, yo, insert hook in next sc, yo, draw up a lp, yo, draw through 2 lps on hook, yo, insert hook in next unworked sc, yo, draw up a lp, yo, draw through 2 lps on hook, yo and draw through all lps on hook. RND 4: Ch1. Sc in each of the next 2 dc. (Sc in top of clA. 2sc in next ch2 sp. Sc in next dc. 2sc, ch2, 2sc in next ch2 corner sp. Sc in next dc. 2sc in next ch2 sp. Sc in top of clB._ *Sc in each of the next 3 dc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1.

RND 5: Ch3. Dc in each of the next 5 sts. [(Yo, insert hook in next unworked sc, draw up a lp, yo, draw through 2 lps on hook, 3 times. Yo draw through all 4 lps on hook. "cluster (cl) made")Ch2. Now imagine if you made this so that you used dark blue for the even numbered rows and white for the odd numbered rows! What a striking look that would be!
