Hobnail Candy Dish

The bobbles on this candy dish are inspired by the hobnail candy dishes that were made many years ago. This is a fun pattern to make and can be completed in 2 or three evenings. It is made with a recycle can that chicken came in.

Materials Needed
Size 10 crochet cotton in white.
Size 10 crochet cotton in shades of pink
Size 7 steel crochet hook
Empty, clean 12oz can that chicken comes in.
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends.

Yarn Thickness: 10thread
Gauge: 8dc=1"
Finished Size: 4" x 2.5"
Skill Level: Intermediate to advanced

Special Stitch: 5dc Bobble 5dcbl: Yo, insert hook in sp indicated, yo, draw up a lp, yo, draw through 2lps on hook. Rep from 4 times more. Yo, draw through all 6 lps on hook.
Special Stitch: Beginning 5dc Bobble beg 5dcbl: Ch2, Yo, insert hook in sp indicated, yo, draw up a lp, yo, draw through 2lps on hook. Rep from 3 times more. Yo, draw through all 6 lps on hook.

Instructions
Inside: With White:
RND 1: Ch4. Join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch3, 13dc in ring. Join w/slst to top of ch3. (14dc)

RND 2: Ch3. Dc in same st as slst. 2dc in each dc around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. (28dc)

RND 3: Ch3. Dc in same st as slst. Dc in next st. *2dc in next dc. Dc in next dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. (42dc)

RND 4: Ch3. Dc in same st as slst. Dc in each of the next 2 dc. *2dc in next dc. Dc in each of the next 2 dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. (56dc)

RND 5: Ch3. Dc in same st as slst. Dc in each of the next 3 dc. *2dc in next dc. Dc in each of the next 3 dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. (70dc)

RND 6: Ch3. Dc in same st as slst. Dc in each of the next 4 dc. *2dc in next dc. Dc in each of the next 4 dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. (84dc)

RND 7: Ch3. Dc in same st as slst. Dc in each of the next 5 dc. *2dc in next dc. Dc in each of the next 5 dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. (98dc)

RND 8 & 9: Ch3. Dc in each dc around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off and weave white ends into back of work. Join pink in same st as slst.

RND 10-17: Ch3. Dc in each dc around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off and weave ends into back of work. Turn wrong side out and set into can and set aside.

Outside Piece. With White
. RND 1-7: Repeat RNDs 1-7 of inside.
Turn work so now you are going the opposite way.

RND 8: Ch3. Dc in each of the next 5 dc. 5dcbl in next dc. *Dc in each of the next 6 dc. 5dcbl in next dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 9: Ch3. Dc in each of the next 4dc. 5dcbl in next dc. *Dc in each of the next 6 dc. 5dcbl in next dc. Rep from * around. End with a dc in the last dc. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 10: Ch3. Dc in each of the next 3dc. 5dcbl in next dc. *Dc in each of the next 6 dc. 5dcbl in next dc. Rep from * around. End with a dc in each of the last 2 dc. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 11: Ch3. Dc in each of the next 2dc. 5dcbl in next dc. *Dc in each of the next 6 dc. 5dcbl in next dc. Rep from * around. End with a dc in each of the last 3 dc. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 14: Beg 5dcbl in same st as slst. *Dc in each of the next 6 dc. 5dcbl in next dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of beg 5dcbl.

RND 15: Ch3. Dc in each of the next 5 dc. 5dcbl in next dc. *Dc in each of the next 6 dc. 5dcbl in next dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 16: Ch3. Dc in each of the next 4dc. 5dcbl in next dc. *Dc in each of the next 6 dc. 5dcbl in next dc. Rep from * around. End with a dc in the last dc. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 17: Ch3. Dc in each of the next 3dc. 5dcbl in next dc. *Dc in each of the next 6 dc. 5dcbl in next dc. Rep from * around. End with a dc in each of the last 2 dc. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Do not fasten off.

Assembly: Pick up prepared inside piece. Put inside piece into the outside piece lining up the last rounds together. Work on sc through both layers at the same time in each sc around about half way. Slip can inside so the pink inside piece is inside the can. Finish working one sc in each st around to close. Join w/slst to first sc. fasten off and weave ends into work.
