Colored Snowflake
Designed By Julie A. BolducThis pretty Christmas color snowflake is a different twist from the normal white snowflakes. I thought it would be nice to see what a snowflake made with the Christmas colors would look like and this is what I came up with.
Materials Needed:
Small amounts each of Size 10 Crochet Cotton in Red, White, and green.
Southmaid was used.
Rust Proof Pins
Drying board such as a peice of styrofoam
Piece of waxed paper
Size 7 steel crochet hook
Fabric Stiffener
Thread Thickness: 10thread
Gauge: 10sc=1"
Finished Size: =3" diameter
Skill Level: Beginner
Instructions
With Red
RND 1: Ch 6. Join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch3, 2dc in ring. Ch2. *3 dc in ring. Ch2. Rep from * 4 times more.
RND 2: Slst to the first ch2 sp. Ch3, 2dc, ch2, 3dc in ch2 sp. Ch6. *3dc, ch2, 3dc in next ch2 sp. Ch6. Rep from* around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off Red.
RND 3: Join white in any ch6 sp. Ch3. 2dc, ch2, 3dc in same ch2 sp. Ch3. Sc in next ch2 sp. Ch3. *3dc, ch2, 3dc in next ch6 sp. Ch3. Sc in next ch2 sp. Ch3. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 4: Slst to the first ch2 sp. Sc in same sp. Ch12. *Sc in next ch2 sp. Ch12. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off White.
You will be working on the chs and not in the space in the next round so that you can get the white ridge under the green. And when you insert your hook in the ch, make sure it goes under the little hump that is on the back side of the ch as well as the top lp of the ch.
RND 5: Join Green in first ch of the first ch12 lp. Work 1 sc in each of the next 11 chs. (Ch6. Slst in 6th ch from hook) Rep bet ( ) two times more. *Sk the next sc. Sc in first ch and in each ch of the next ch12 lp. (Ch6. Slst in 6th ch from hook) Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first sc.
Stiffen with fabric Stiffener.
