Side Linked Double Trebles
This stitch is an adaptation from the Linked trebles found in the Harmony Guide to Crochet Stitches on Page 18. I have changed it a little bit to make it taller and instead of working the stitches on the horizontal bars on the sides of the stitches, you work on the vertical loops down the side of the stitches.
This is a great stitch to use in sweaters, scarves, afghans, dishcloths, pillows and more. I recommend you use a larger hook than recommended for this stitch to get a softer feeling fabric. I used a size K/10 hook for the baby afghan I made with this stitch.
Below is the way I work this stitch starting from the foundation chain.
Instructions
ROW 1: Make as many chains as stitches across as you want. Add 5 more. Insert hook, pull up a loop in each of the following chains, the 2nd, 4th, 6th and 7th ch from hook. Yo, pull through 2 loops on hook 4 times. You now have 2 stitches made on the foundation chain. Now you will work on the rest of the foundation chain. (Insert hook and pull up a loop in each of the 3 bottom vertical bars down the side of the previous stitch and into the next chain. You should have 5 loops on hook. Yo, pull through 2 loops on hook 4 times.) Repeat bet () all the way across. At the end, ch6, turn.
ROW 2: Insert hook and pull up a loop in the 2nd, 4th and 6th ch from hook. Sk very first sldtr and insert hook in next sldtr and pull up a loop. Yo, pull through 2 lps on hook 4 times. Repeat between () of ROW 1 all the way across. When you get to the end, you will be inserting your hook in the top of the ch5 of the foundation row but in end of each of the following rows, you will be inserting your hook in the top of the ch6 turning chain.
Repeat ROW 2 for as many rows as you want for your project. Below is the Video that goes with this stitch!
