V-st Baby Afghan

This afghan is a gift for a friend who is expecting a baby soon. It combines v-sts with sc to form a unique look. It is easy to do but you need to be prepared to weave in a lot of ends and to read a lot of repeats of rows. Basically you are going to do 4 sets of multicolor rows and 3 sets of green rows but the center green section is missing 2 sc rows in the very center of the afghan.

Materials Needed
1 Skein each of Red Heart Baby Sport Yarn. Light Green, Baby blue, baby yellow and white.
Size H/8 or 5mm alumiunum crochet hook
Yarn Needle

Yarn Thickness: 4mm
Gauge: 4dc=1"
Finished Size: 28"x30"
Skill Level: Intermediate

Instructions
ROW 1: With Baby Blue. Ch 100. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch3, turn.

ROW2: Sk first sc. Dc in next sc. Fasten off. Join white in top of dc. Sk next 2 sc. Dc, ch1, dc in next sc (v-st made). Sk 2sc. *V-st in next sc. Sk 2 sc. Rep from * across but keep the last 4 sc unworked. Fasten off. Join baby blue in top of last dc. Sk next 2 sc. Dc in each of the last 2 sc. Ch3, turn.

ROW3: Sk first dc. Dc in next dc. Fasten off blue. Join white in top of last dc. Vst in each vst across. Fasten off white. Join blue to top of last dc. Dc in next dc and in top of ch3. Ch1, turn.

ROW4: Sc in first dc and in next dc. Sc in next sp just before the first vst. *Sc in next dc, in next ch1 sp and in next dc (of the next vst). Rep from * across to last vst. Then sc in next sp after the last vst. Sc in next dc and in top of ch3. Fasten off blue. Turn.

ROW5: Join yellow in first sc. Sc in each sc across. Ch3, turn.

ROW6: Sk first sc. Dc in next sc. Fasten off. Join white in top of dc. Sk next 2 sc. Dc, ch1, dc in next sc (v-st made). Sk 2sc. *V-st in next sc. Sk 2 sc. Rep from * across but keep the last 4 sc unworked. Fasten off. Join yellow in top of last dc. Sk next 2 sc. Dc in each of the last 2 sc. Ch3, turn.

ROW7: Sk first dc. Dc in next dc. Fasten off yellow. Join white in top of last dc. Vst in each vst across. Fasten off white. Join yellow to top of last dc. Dc in next dc and in top of ch3. Ch1, turn.

ROW8: Sc in first dc and in next dc. Sc in next sp just before the first vst. *Sc in next dc, in next ch1 sp and in next dc (of the next vst). Rep from * across to last vst. Then sc in next sp after the last vst. Sc in next dc and in top of ch3. Fasten off yellow. Turn.

ROW9: Join blue in first sc. Sc in each sc across. Ch3, turn.

ROW10: Sk first sc. Dc in next sc. Fasten off. Join white in top of dc. Sk next 2 sc. Dc, ch1, dc in next sc (v-st made). Sk 2sc. *V-st in next sc. Sk 2 sc. Rep from * across but keep the last 4 sc unworked. Fasten off. Join blue in top of last dc. Sk next 2 sc. Dc in each of the last 2 sc. Ch3, turn.

ROW11: Sk first dc. Dc in next dc. Fasten off blue. Join white in top of last dc. Vst in each vst across. Fasten off white. Join blue to top of last dc. Dc in next dc and in top of ch3. Ch1, turn.

ROW12: Sc in first dc and in next dc. Sc in next sp just before the first vst. *Sc in next dc, in next ch1 sp and in next dc (of the next vst). Rep from * across to last vst. Then sc in next sp after the last vst. Sc in next dc and in top of ch3. Fasten off blue. Turn.

Green Section ROW 13: Join green in first sc. Sc in each sc across. Ch3, turn.

ROW 14: Sk first sc. Dc in next sc. Sk next 2 sc. Dc, ch1, dc in next sc (v-st made). Sk 2sc. *V-st in next sc. Sk 2 sc. Rep from * across but keep the last 4 sc unworked. Sk next 2 sc. Dc in each of the last 2 sc. Ch3, turn.

ROW 15: Sk first dc. Dc in next dc. Vst in each vst across. Dc in next dc and in top of ch3. Ch1, turn.

ROW 16: Sc in first dc and in next dc. Sc in next sp just before the first vst. *Sc in next dc, in next ch1 sp and in next dc (of the next vst). Rep from * across to last vst. Then sc in next sp after the last vst. Sc in next dc and in top of ch3. Ch1, turn.

ROW 17: Sc in each sc across. Ch3, turn.
ROW 18: Rep row 14.
ROW 19: Rep row 15.
ROW 20: Rep row 16.
ROW 21: Rep row 17.
ROW 22: Rep row 14.
ROW 23: Rep row 15.
ROW 24: Rep row 16. At the end of row, fasten off green.

Multi color Section
ROW 25-28: Rep rows 9-12.
ROW 29-32: Rep rows 5-8.
ROW 33-36: Rep rows 9-12.

In this next green section, I purposly skipped 2 sc rows.
ROW 37-40: Rep rows 13-16.
ROW 41-43: Rep rows 14-16.
ROW 44-46: Rep rows 14-16. Again.

Multi Color Section
ROW 47-58: Rep rows 25-36.

Green Section
ROW 59-70: Rep rows 13 through 24.

Multi Color section
ROW 71-82: Rep rows 25-36 again.

I did not put a border around this afghan but you can if you want.
