CD Bottom Drawstring Purse

This purse is made ridged on the bottom because of a CD! That way it will stay open and standing. It is fairly easy to make with intermediate crochet experience. Once you get past the actual base part, the rest of it is very easy. This is also just the right size to store a single roll of bath tissue as well!

Materials Needed
1 3.5 oz skein each pink and blue worsted weight acrylic yarn or desired colors. I used Red Heart soft blue baby sport and Red Heart worsted weight acrylic yarn in Orchid Mist.
1 old CDROM
Size G aluminum crochet hook
Yarn Needle

Gauge: 4dc = 1"
Finished Size: 5.5"x9"

Instructions
Inside Base Circle
RND 1: With Blue: Ch4, work 11 dc in 4th ch from hook. Join w/slst to top of ch4. (12dc)

RND 2: Ch3, dc in same st as slst st. 2dc in each dc around. Join wsl/st in top of ch3. (24dc)

RND 3: Ch3, dc in same st as slst. Dc in next dc. *2dc in next dc. Dc in next dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. (36dc)

RND 4: Repeat rnd 3. Yes do the same thing as you did for round 3. (54dc)

RND 5: Ch1. Sc in same st as slst. Sc in each of the next 2 dc. *2sc in next dc. Sc in each of the next 2 dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1. (72dc)

RND 6: Ch1, sc in each sc around. Join w/slst to ch1. (72sc) Fasten off. Set aside.

Outside Base Circle
RND 1: With Blue: Ch4, work 11 dc in 4th ch from hook. Join w/slst to top of ch4. (12dc)

RND 2: Ch3, dc in same st as slst st. 2dc in each dc around. Join wsl/st in top of ch3. (24dc)

RND 3: Ch3, 2dc in same st as slst. Ch1. Sk next dc. *3dc in next dc. Ch1. Sk next dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off blue.

RND 4: Join pink in same st as slst. Ch3. 2dc in next dc. Dc in next dc. Tr in skipped dc of round 2 over the ch1 sp. *Dc in next dc. 2dc in next dc. Dc in next dc. Tr in skipped dc of round 2 over the ch1 sp. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. (60 sts)

RND 5: Ch1. Sc in each of the next 3 dc. 2sc in next tr. *Sc in each of the next 4 dc. 2sc in next tr. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1. (72sts)

RND 6: Ch1. Sc in each sc around. Pick up inside base and join the 2 pieces together with wrong sides facing each other. Join w/slst to ch1 and any stitch on the inside base.

Sides
RND 1: Ch3. Working through both the front and back of the base, Dc in each st around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 2: Ch3. Dc in each of the next 4 dc. Ch1. Sk next dc. *Dc in each of the next 5 dc. Ch1. Sk next dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Drop pink to back of work but do not cut.

RND 3: Join blue in same st as slst. Ch3. Dc in each of the next 2dc. Ch1. Sk next dc. Dc in each of the next 2 dc. Tr in next skipped dc of pre rnd over ch1 sp. *Dc in each of the next 2 dc. Ch1. Sk next dc. Dc in each of the next 2 dc. Tr in next skipped dc of pre rnd. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Drop blue to back of work but do not cut.

RND 4: Pick up pink, ch3. Dc in next dc. Tr in next skipped dc of pre rnd. Dc in each of the next 2 dc. Ch1. Sk next dc. *Dc in each of the next 2 dc. Tr in next skipped dc of pre rnd. Dc in each of the next 2dc. Ch1, sk next dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Drop pink to back of work but do not cut.

RND 5: Pick up blue. Ch3. Dc in each of the next 2dc. Ch1. Sk next dc. Dc in each of the next 2 dc. Tr in next skipped dc of pre rnd over ch1 sp. *Dc in each of the next 2 dc. Ch1. Sk next dc. Dc in each of the next 2 dc. Tr in next skipped dc of pre rnd. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Drop blue to back of work but do not cut.

RND 6-18: Rep rnds 4 & 5 consecutively. You will end with a pink row. Fasten off pink on the last round.

RND 19: Pick up blue. Ch1. Sc in each of the next 4 sts. Dc in next skipped st of pre rnd over the ch1 sp. *Sc in each of the next 5 sts. Dc in next skipped st of pre rnd over the ch1 sp. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1. Do not drop blue.

Drawstring Casing:
RND 20: Ch3. Dc in next st. Ch1. Sk next st. *Dc in each of the next 2 sts. Ch1, sk next st. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off blue.

RND 21: Join pink in same st as slst. Ch1. Sc in next st. Sc in next ch1 sp. *Sc in each of the next 2 sts. Sc in next ch1 sp. Rep from * around. join w/slst to ch1. Fasten off and weave all ends into back of work.

Draw strings
Make 2: With Pink. Ch100. Fasten off.

Weave through casing in opposite ways. Tie ends together using a square knot and trim to .25" from the ends.
