Heart Bookmark

The heart was designed by J.L. Vanderslice she wanted to design a basic motif that other people can expand on and this bookmark is the way I expanded on it. What a cute little bookmark to give to your sweetheart for Valentine's day! Thanks Jenn for allowing me to use the great heart motif for this bookmark! You did a great job with designing it!!!

Materials Needed:
Small amount size 10 crochet cotton. Southmaid was used.
Pink and white.
Size 7 steel crochet hook
Tapestry Needle for weaving in ends

Thread Thickness: 10thread
Gauge: 10dc=1"
Finished Size: 1¼"x 8"
Skill Level: Beginner

NOTE: I did edit the instructions that Jenn gave me but this is her design.

Crochet Heart
Row 1: ch3 (counts as dc now and throughout) dc twice in first ch, ch3, turn.

Row 2: Dc in first dc, 2dc in each dc across and in top of ch3.(total=6dc) ch3, turn.

Row 3: Dc in first dc, 2dc in next dc dc in next 2 dc, 2dc next dc and in top of ch3. (total=10dc) ch3, turn.

Row 4: Dc in first dc, 2dc in next dc. Dc in next 6 dc, 2dc next dc and in top of ch3. (total=14dc) ch3, turn.

Row 5: Dc in each dc across (total=14dc). Do not ch1, just turn.

Row 6: Skip next 2dc, 6dc in next dc ,skip 2dc, sl st in next 2dc, skip 2 dc, 6dc, skip 2dc, sl st in top of ch3. Fasten off and weave ends into work.

To make bookmark.
This part designed by Julie A. Bolduc With Pink, work Heart motif in full. Join white to bottom of heart. *Ch3, slst in 3rd ch from hook. Sc in next st.* Rep bet ** around to 6th dc of shell. Slst in next 2slst. Rep bet ** around back to bottom of heart. Sc in same place as first sc. Ch60, slst in 3rd ch from hook, ch5, slst in 5th ch from hook ch3, slst in 3rd ch from hook and in same ch as first slst. Slst in each ch back to heart. Slst in same place as you started. Fasten off and weave ends into work. Enjoy!!!

Christmas Card Gift Tags
I am sure you have heard this one before. Use your old Christmas cards as gift tags this year. Just use cookie cutters to cut the front of the cards into fun shapes, punch a hole in the top, use colorful 1/8" wide ribbon for hanging and presto! A great gift tag! Better yet! Get your kids on the action of making these gift tags. You could make them while eating holiday sweets and drinking hot chocolate. What a fun time this would be!
