Lemon Slice Bookmark

Lemon Slice Bookmark Designed By Julie A. Bolduc

This bookmark is made with the special stitch, the Citrus Stitch. Since the stitches look like slices of citrus fruit, and the bookmark is made with yellow thread, I call it Lemon Slice bookmark.

Materials Needed:
Small amount yellow size 10 crochet cotton.
Southmaid was used.
Size 7 steel crochet hook
Tapestry Needle for weaving in ends

Thread Thickness: 10 thread
Gauge: 10sc=1"
Finished Size: =7½"x1½"
Skill Level: Beginner

Special Stitch Used
Citrus Stitch (cit): Ch5, insert hook in 2nd ch from hook, pull up a lp, *insert hook in next st and pull up a lp. Rep from * 2 more times. Yo and pull through all 5 lps on hook. Ch1 to close.

Instructions
ROW 1: Ch65. Dc in 8th ch from hook. Ch2. Sk 2 chs, dc in next ch. Rep from * across. Ch3, turn.

ROW 2: Sc in first dc. *Cit. Sc in next dc. rep from * across. Ch3, turn.

ROW 3: Sc in top of first cit. Ch2. *Sc in top of next cit. Ch2. Rep from * across. Dc in sc. Ch5, turn.

ROW 4: Dc in next sc. Ch2. Rep from beg across. Dc in last sc.

Perimeter
Ch6, dc in same meshsp. Ch3. Dc, ch5, dc in next ch3 sp at end of bookmark. Ch3. Work the foll in the next corner sp. (Dc, ch3, dc, ch5, dc, ch3, dc.) *Ch3. dc in next ch2 sp. Rep from * across to the next corner. Ch3. Rep bet () in next corner. Ch3. Dc, ch5, dc in next ch3 sp at end of bookmark. Ch3. Rep bet () in next corner. *Ch3. dc in next ch2 sp. Rep from * across to the next corner. Ch3. Dc, ch3, dc, ch5, join w/slst to 3rd ch of ch6.

You may want to starch this lightly to keep it shape. I didn't but you can.

Paper Templates in Quilting
To make it easier to use small paper templates in making quilt blocks, put double stick tape on the back side of the template and stick it onto the fabric and use your ruler and rotary cutter to cut your quilt block piece following the lines of the template.
