Lacy Cross Bookmark

This cross bookmark is made starting at the center then each "leg" is made from each side separately. It is a fairly fast and easy bookmark to make and you could make at least a couple in an evening.

Materials Needed:
Small amount size 10 crochet cotton. DMC Cebelia in rose was used in the example
Size 7 steel crochet hook
Tapestry Needle for weaving in ends

Yarn Thickness: 10thread
Gauge: 10 sc =1"
Finished Size: 6" x 3"
Skill Level: Intermediate

Instructions
RND 1: Ch6. Join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch3, dc in ring. Ch3. (4dc in ring. Ch3. three times.) 2dc in ring. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Slst into the first ch of the next ch3 sp. Ch3, turn. You will work in rows for each arm.

First ARM:
ROW 1: Dc in next dc. Ch2, sk next 2dc. Dc in next dc, dc in first ch of the next ch3 sp. Ch3, turn.

ROW 2-4: Dc in next dc. Ch2, sk next 2 dc. Dc in next dc. Dc in top of ch3. Ch3, turn. At the end of row 4, fasten off.

2nd ARM & 3rd ARM:

ROW 1: Join thread on 3rd ch of the next ch3 sp on the first round. Ch3, dc in next dc. Ch2, sk next 2 dc. Dc in next dc. Dc in first ch of the next ch3 sp. Ch3, turn.

ROW 2-4: Dc in next dc. Ch2, sk next 2 dc. Dc in next dc. Dc in top of ch3. Ch3, turn. At the end of row 4, fasten off.

Last ARM, or Leg: Bottom of cross.
ROW 1: Join thread on 3rd ch of the next ch3 sp on the first round. Ch3, dc in next dc. Ch2, sk next 2 dc. Dc in next dc. Dc in first ch of the next ch3 sp. Ch3, turn.

ROW 2-8: Dc in next dc. Ch2, sk next 2 dc. Dc in next dc. Dc in top of ch3. Ch3, turn. At the end of row 8, fasten off.

Perimeter:
Start Leg: Join thread in first dc, of the 8th row of the last arm/leg of cross. **Dc in next ch2 sp. [(Ch3, slst in 3rd ch from hook (picot made (pic))) Dc in same sp.] Rep bet [] 2 times more. Sk next dc. Sc in top of ch3. ** Now work on each row of the the leg. Sc in next row. (Pic. Sc in next row. 8 times). Ch2.

Right ARM: Sc in first row of next arm. (Pic. Sc in next row. 3 times) Sc in top of next dc. Rep bet ** ** once. Sc in next row. (Pic. Sc in next row. 3 times). Ch2.

TOP ARM: Sc in first row of next arm. (Pic. Sc in next row. 3 times) Sc in top of next dc. Rep bet ** ** once. Sc in next row. (Pic. Sc in next row. 3 times). Ch2.

Left ARM: Sc in first row of next arm. (Pic. Sc in next row. 3 times) Sc in top of next dc. Rep bet ** ** once. Sc in next row. (Pic. Sc in next row. 3 times). Ch2.

Finish Leg: Sc in first row of leg. (Pic. Sc in next row. 8 times. Join w/slst to ch1. Fasten off. Weave all ends into back of work. Starch lightly to block into shape.
