Ocean Breeze Bookmark
Designed By Julie A. BolducThis bookmark is first done in rows and then in 2 rounds. The ribbon is woven down the center when it is done. The open shells remind me of ocean waves when the wind is blowing!
Materials Needed
Size 10 crochet cotton in light blue
Size 10 crochet cotton white
12" ¼" wide white double faced satin ribbon
Size 7 Steel Crochet Hook
Tapestry Needle for Weaving in ends
Yarn Thickness: 10thread
Gauge: 8sc = 1"
Finished Size: 8" x 1¼"
Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate
Instructions
ROW 1: With Blue. Ch10, join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch3, dc in same st as slst. Ch2. Sk 2 chs. 2dc in next ch. Ch3, turn.
ROW 2-25: Dc in next dc. Ch2. Dc in next dc and in top of ch3. Ch3, turn. At the end of row 25, do not ch3, just turn.
ROW 26: Slst into next dc. Ch6. Slst in next dc. This forms a ch6 space at this end.
Now you will work in Rounds. Please note, you have a ch6 space at both ends. You will be working in these 2 ch6 spaces in the first round.
RND 1: Treat each dc and ch3 at each end of each row as a chain 3 space. Slst into the first ch3 sp. Ch1, sc in same sp. (Dc, ch1, dc, ch1, dc, ch1, dc in next ch3 sp. Sc in next ch3 sp.) Rep bet () 11 times more. [Dc, ch1, 11 times in the next ch6 end space.] Sc in next ch3 sp. Rep bet () 12 times. Rep bet [] once. Join w/slst to first sc. Fasten off blue.
RND 2: Join white to same st as slst. Ch5, dc in same st as slst. (Sk next ch1 sp. Sc in next ch1 sp. Sk next ch1 sp. Dc, ch2, dc in next sc.) Rep bet () 11 times more. [Sc in next dc, sc in next ch1 sp, 11 times. Sc in next dc.] Dc, ch2, dc in next sc. Rep bet () 11 times. Rep bet [] once. Join w/slst to 3rd ch of ch5. Fasten off and weave all ends into back of work.
Finishing
Weave Ribbon through center of bookmark from one end to the other.
