Snowflake Stocking

This stocking started out as a pair of slippers but I quickly realized I did not have enough of the double thick yarn to make the 2nd slipper so I made it into a stocking instead.

Materials Needed
Double Thick Yarn in Blue
Size K/10½ or 6½mm aluminum crochet hook
Worsted weighty acrylic yarn in white
Size H/8 or 5mm aluminum crochet hook
Yarn needle for weaving in ends

Yarn Thickness: 5mm
Gauge: 3sc=1"
Finished Size: 10"x7"
Skill Level: Intermediate

Instructions
ROW 1 Cuff: With double thick yarn. Ch21. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch1, turn.

ROW 2-22: Working in back lps only. Sc in each st across. Ch1, turn. At the end of ROW 22. Join ROW 1 to ROW 22 with a slst in each st across.

RND 1: Ch1. Sc in each row around. You should end up with 23 stitches around. If not, just add one more or take one away. Join w/slst to ch1.

RND 2: Ch2. Hdc in each st around. Join w/slst to top of ch2.

Heel :
ROW 1: Ch2. Hdc in each of the next 10 sts. Ch2, turn.

ROW 2: Ch2, sk first st. Hdc in each st across. Hdc in top of ch2. Ch2, turn.

ROW 3: Rep ROW 2 of heel.

ROW 4: Yo, insert hook in next st, pull up a lp, yo, pull through 2lps on hook, insert hook in next st, pull up a lp, yo, pull through all 2 lps on hook. Dec made. Hdc in each of the next 5 sts. Dec 1. Hdc in top of ch2. Ch2, turn.

ROW 5: Sk 1st st. Dec 1. Hdc in each of the next 3 sts. Dec 1. Hdc in top of ch2. Ch2, turn.

ROW 6: Sk1 st. Dec1. Hdc in next st.

RND 1: Ch2, 6hdc evenly spaced down first side of heel. Yo, insert hook in row 1 of heel, yo pull up a lp, yo pull thorugh 2lps on hook. Insert hook in same st as last st on row 1 of cuff, yo pullup a lp, insert hook in next st of cuff, pull up a lp, yo, pull through 4 lps on hook. Hdc in each of the next 10 sts on cuff. Yo, insert hook in next st, yo pull through 2 lps on hook, insert hook and pull up a lp in next st and n first row of other side of heel. Yo pull through all 4 lps on hook. Work 7hdc evenly spaced on 2nd side of heel. Work 2 more hdc across bottom of heel. Join w/slst to top of ch2. (28 sts)

RND 2: Ch2. Hdc in each of the next 6 sts. Dec 1. Hdc in each of the next 9 sts. Dec 1. Hdc in each of the next 8 sts. Join w/slst to top of ch2.

RND 3-10: Ch2. Hdc in each st around. Join w/slst to top of ch2.

RND 11: Ch2. Hdc in each of the next 2 sts. Dec 1. *Hdc in each of the next 3 sts. Dec 1. Rep from * 3 times more. Join w/slst to top of ch2.

RND 12: Ch2. Hdc in each of the next 2 sts. Dec 1. Hdc in each of the next 3 sts, dec 1, 3 times. Hdc in next st. Join w/slst to top of ch2.

RND 13: Ch2. Hdc in each of th enext 2 sts. Dec1. Hdc in each of the next 3 sts, dec 1, 2 times. Hdc in each of the last 2 sts. Join w/slst to top of ch2.

RND 14: Ch2. Hdc in each of the next 2sts. Dec 1. Hdc in each of the next 3 sts, dec 1. Hdc in each of the next 2 sts. Dec1. Join w/slst to top of ch2. Fasten off and weave toe end through each st around to gather up to close.

Hanger: Ch10. Fasten off. Attach to top left corner of the stocking with the toe facing to the right.

Snowflake:
RND 1: Ch6, join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch7. Dc in ring, ch4, 5 times. Join w/slst to 3rd ch of ch7.

RND 2: Ch8. Slst in 5th ch from hook. Ch5, slst in 5th ch from hook twice. Slst in same ch as first slst. Dc in next dc. Ch3. *Dc in dc. Ch5, slst in 5th ch from hook 3 times. Slst in same ch as 1st slst. Dc in next dc. Ch3. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to 3rd ch of ch8. Fasten off and tack one of the points at the tips of the ch5 lps to top of sock.
