Snowman Centerpiece

This centerpiece is just the thing you need to decorate the center of your dining table during the holidays. It can be used throughout the winter season. This is actually a cover for a clear glass pumkin candy holder with a tight fitting lid. The whole snowman sits on a snowflake shaped mat with silk poinsettias and 2 christmas picks placed on the mat in front of the snowman.

Materials Needed:
• Sport weight acrylic yarn in white 4oz
• Size G/6 or 4mm aluminum crochet hook
• Scraps of worsted weight acrylic yarn in black, red and green
• Size H/8 or 5mm aluminum crochet hook
• 2 Wiggle eyes 15mm diameter
• 3 Faceted Shank Black buttons 16mm diameter
• 5 6mm black buttons with 2 holes
• 1 orange pony bead
• 2 brown 12" chenille stems
• Polyester Fiberfill to stuff head and part of upper body
• 1 round glass pumpkin candy container about 6" in diameter 7" high
• Yarn needle for weaving in ends
• Hot glue and gun for gluing on features
• 2 Christmas picks
• 2 red silk poinsettias taken from a poinsettia bunch

Yarn Thickness: Sport 2mm, Worsted, 4mm
Gauge: Sport - 6dc=1", Worsted - 4dc=1"
Finished Size: Snowman - 12" x 6", Mat - 13" diameter
Skill Level: Intermediate

Picot: Ch3, slst in 3rd ch from hook.
Decrease: Dec. Yo, insert hook in stitch indicated, yo, pull up a lp, yo, pull through 2 lps on hook, insert hook in next st. Yo pull up a loop, yo, pull through all 3 lps on hook.

Instructions
Starting with head and white sport weight yarn and size G hook.
RND 1: Ch3. 8Hdc in 3rd ch from hook. Join w/slst to top of ch3. (9 hdc)

Hat
w/Black and size H/8 hook
RND 1: Ch3. 8Hdc in 3rd ch from hook. Join w/slst to top of ch3. (9 hdc)

RND 2: Ch2, hdc in same st as slst. 2hdc in each st around. Join w/slst to top of ch2. (18 hdc)

RND 3: Ch2. Hdc in each st around working on the back side of each stitch around the top part of the post. Join w/slst to top of ch2.

Scarf:
With red and size H/8 hook

Assembly
Step 1: Stuff head & upper part of body. Leave enough room so the snowman will fit over the glass pumpkin. Or if you do not have a pumpkin, a small glass fish bowl should work as long as it is about 6" in diameter.

Step 2: With hot glue, glue the hat to top of head. Glue eyes, nose and mouth to front of head in desired position.

Step 3: Glue buttons on front of body section of snowman.

Step 4: Wrap scarf around neck and glue where the scarf crosses to secure.

Step 5: Bend chenille stems into arms with hands in desired way. Stick into sides of snowman near neck. Glue in place.

Step 6: Place glass bowl or pumpkin onto snowflake mat. Cover pumpkin with snowman. Decorate base with poinsettias and Christmas picks.
