Jumbo Coaster

This large coaster can also be used as a motif in a doily or placemat made of crochet thread. Of course you could use it as a coaster for a bowl of soup or large mug when you decide to have your dinner in the living room.
Materials Needed
Small amount worsted weight cotton/acrylic yarn. Aunt Lydia's "Denim" quick Crochet color number 1062 was used in the example.
Size G aluminum crochet hook.
Yarn Needle for weaving in ends
Gauge: round 1 is 1 5/8" diameter
Finished Size: 6"diameter from point to point
Skill Level: Beginner
Instructions RND 1: Ch6. Join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch3. 15dc in ring. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 2: Sc in next dc. Ch2. Dc, ch2, dc in next dc. (vst made) Ch2. *Sc in next dc. Ch2. Vst in next sc. Ch2. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first sc.
RND 3: Ch3. Vst in next vst. Dc in next ch2 sp. Ch1. *Dc in next ch2 sp. Vst in next vst. Dc in next ch2 sp. Ch1. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 4: Slst to the next vst. Slst in vst. Ch3. 2dc, ch2, 3dc in same vst. *Sc in next ch1 sp. 3dc, ch2, 3dc in next vst. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 5: Ch1. Sc in each of the next 3dc. Work the fol in the next ch2 sp. (Sc, ch4, slst in 4th ch from hook. sc in sp.) Sc in each of the next 3 sts. *Sc in next sc. Sc in each of the next 3dc. work the foll in the next ch2 sp. (Sc, ch4, slst in 4th ch from hook. Sc in same sp.) Sc in each of the next 3 sts. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1. Fasten off and weave ends into back of work.
