Summer's Day Dishcloth

This crocheted dishcloth is fun and easy to make and uses an old favorite stitch of mine, the shell stitch. This pattern can also be adapted for a larger project such as a baby blanket.

Materials Needed
Worsted weight cotton yarn in Shades of Green
Worsted weight cotton yarn in ecru
Size F5/3.75mm aluminum crochet hook
Yarn needle for weaving in ends

Yarn Thickness: 3mm
Gauge: 5dc=1"
Finished Size: 7" x 7¾"
Skill Level: Intermediate

Instructions
ROW 1: With shades of green. Ch32. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch1, turn.

ROW 2: Sk 2 sc. *5dc in next sc. Sk 2 sc. Sc in next sc. Rep from * across. Ch3, turn.

ROW 3: 2dc in top of sc. Sk 2 dc. Sc in next dc. *5dc in next sc. Sk 2 dc. Sc in next dc. Repeat from * 3 times more. 3dc in last sc. Ch1, turn.

ROW 4: Sc in each of the first 3 dc. *Hdc in next sc. Sc in each of the next 5 dc. Rep from * 4 times more. Hdc in next sc. Sc in each of the next 2 dc and in top of ch3. Fasten off shades of green. Turn.

ROW 5: Join ecru in first sc. Ch1, sc in same st. Sc in each st across. Ch1, turn.
ROW 6: Rep ROW 2.
ROW 7: Rep ROW 3.
ROW 8: Rep ROW 4. Fasten off ecru. Join shaded greens.
ROW 9: Rep ROW 5.
ROW 10: Rep ROW 2.
ROW 11: Rep ROW 3.
ROW 12: Rep ROW 4. Fasten off Shaded greens and join ecru.
ROW 13: Rep ROW 5.
ROW 14: Rep ROW 2.
ROW 15: Rep ROW 3.
ROW 16: Rep ROW 4. Fasten off ecru and join shaded greens.
ROW 17: Rep ROW 5.
ROW 18: Rep ROW 2.
ROW 19: Rep ROW 3.
ROW 20: Rep ROW 4. Do not fasten off shaded greens. Ch1, turn.

Perimeter:
Sc in each st across. Ch2. Work 25 sc evenly spaced down the side to the next corner. Ch2 to go around the corner. Sc in each sc across bottom. Ch2 to go around corner. Work 25 sc evenly spaced up the other side to the first sc. Join w/slst to first sc. Fasten off and weave ends into back of work.
