Spiral Net Square

This square is fast and easy to make and would look great as part of an afghan.

Materials Needed
Worsted weight acrylic yarn in Bright Pink
Size H/8 or 5mm aluminum crochet hook
Yarn needle for weaving in ends

Yarn Thickness: 3mm
Gauge: 4dc = 1"
Finished Size: 5½"x5½"
Skill Level: Beginner

Instructions
RND 1: Ch4. Join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch3, 2dc in ring. Ch3. 3dc in ring, ch3, 3 times. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 2: Slst into the next dc. Ch3. (Dc in next dc. Dc in next ch3 sp. Ch3. Sc in same ch3 sp. Ch3. Sk next dc.) *Dc in next dc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 3: Slst into the next dc. Ch3. (Dc in next dc. Dc in next ch3 sp. Ch3. Sc in same ch3 sp. Ch3. Sc in next ch3 sp. Ch3. Sk next dc.) *Dc in next dc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 4: Slst into the next dc. Ch3. (Dc in next dc. Dc in next ch3 sp. Ch3. Sc in same ch3 sp. Ch3, sc in next ch3 sp, twice. Ch3. Sk next dc.) *Dc in next dc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 5: Slst into the next dc. Ch3. (Dc in next dc. Dc in next ch3 sp. Ch3. Sc in same ch3 sp. Ch3, sc in next ch3 sp, 3 times. Ch3. Sk next dc.) *Dc in next dc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 6: Ch3. (Dc, ch2, dc in next dc. Dc in next dc. 3dc in each of the next 5 ch3 sps.) *Dc in next dc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 7: Ch1. (Sc in next dc. 2sc, ch2, 2sc in next ch2 corner sp. Sc in each of the next 17 dc. *Sc in next dc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1. Fasten off and weave ends into back of work.

Now that it is summer and you are probably drinking more beverages that come in a can, you might want to make some can covers to absorb the condesation out side the can. Well the pattern for the JPFCup would work great for this! You can get the pattern at

But if this does not work for you, you can make a simple dc circle then when it gets to 2-1/2" in diameter, just continue working one dc in each stitch around joining at the end of each round until it is the right height for the can. I would think using Variegated cotton yarn would work best for these covers.
