Cute Little Ghost
Designed By Julie A. BolducThis crocheted ghost is fast and easy to make and would look great hung in a window so he/she can greet trick or treaters at the door! This is also a great beginner project for someone who is just learning how to crochet in the round.
Materials Needed
Worsted weight acrylic yarn in white
Size H/8 or 5mm aluminum crochet hook
Yarn needle for weaving in ends
Small amount polyester fiberfill for stuffing head
1 piece black felt about 2" x 2".
Hot glue and gun
Nylon thread for hanging
Yarn Thickness: 4mm
Gauge: 4dc=1"
Finished Size: 6" across bottom, 8" high
Skill Level: Beginner
Special Stitch Used: Decrease, (dec): Yo, insert hook in next st, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops on hook, insert hook in next st, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through all 3 lps on hook.
Vst: Dc, ch2, dc in same st as indicated. When the instructions say to Vst in vst, it means to work the vst in the ch2 sp between the 2 dcs of the vst.
Picot: Ch3, slst in 3rd ch from hook.
Instructions
RND 1: Ch4. Join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch2. 11hdc in ring. Join w/slst to top of ch2. (12 hdc)
RND 2: Ch2, hdc in same st as slst. 2hdc in each st around. Join w/slst to top of ch2. (24 hdc)
RND 3-6: Ch2. Hdc in each st around. Join w/slst to top of ch2.
RND 7: Ch2. Dec each st around so you end up with 13 sts including the ch2. Join w/slst to top of ch2.
RND 8: Ch5, dc in same st as slst. Vst in each hdc around. Join w/slst to 3rd ch of ch5.
RND 9: Slst into the first ch2 sp. Ch5, dc in same sp. Vst in each vst around. Join w/slst to 3rd ch of ch5.
RND 10-15: Slst into the first ch 2 sp. Ch5, dc in same sp. Ch1. *Vst in next vst. Ch1. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to 3rd ch of ch5.
RND 16: Slst into the first ch2 sp. Ch3, dc, picot, 2dc in same sp. 2dc, picot, 2dc in each vst around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off and weave ends into back of work.
Finishing
STEP 1: Cut 2 ½" x 5/8" ovals for eyes and one ½" x ¾" oval for mouth from black felt. Set aside.
STEP 2: Stuff head
STEP 3: Glue eyes and mouth onto front of head for a face with hot glue.
STEP 4: Cut nylon thread twice as long as you want the ghost to hang. Tie onto top of head and tie ends together to form hanger. Hang up your ghost and enjoy!
