Shell Stitch Easter Egg

This easter egg is made first in regular concentric circles, then changes to the shell stitch with the first color change. The 2 different shell colors are carried up the rows and not cut until all of the rounds are complete.
Materials Needed
Crochet Cotton in white, yellow and lavender. Southmaid was used in the example.
Size 7 steel crochet hook
Duck Sized plastic egg
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Yarn Thickness: 10thread
Gauge: 11dc = 1"
Finished Size: 3½" x 2½"
Skill Level: Intermediate
Special Stitch Instructions (dcdec) Double Crochet Decrease: Yo, insert hook in stitch next st, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 lps on hook, yo, insert hook in next st, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 lps on hook, yo, pull through all 3 lps on hook.
Instructions
RND 1: With white. Ch4. Join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch3, 11 dc in ring. Join w/slst to top of ch3. (12dc)
RND 2: Ch3. Dc in same st as slst. 2dc in each st around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. (24dc)
RND 3: Ch3. Dc in same st as slst. Dc in next dc. *2dc in next dc. Dc in next dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. (36dc)
RND 4: Ch3. Dc in same st as slst. Dc in each of the next 2 dc. *2dc in next dc. Dc in each of the next 2 dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. (48dc) Fasten off white and weave ends in.
RND 5: Join lavender to same st as slst. Sc in same st. (Sk 2 dc. 5dc in next dc. Sk 2 dc.) *Sc in next dc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first sc. Drop lavender but do not cut. Join yellow to same stitch as slst.
RND 6: Ch3, 4 dc in same st as slst. (Sk 2 dc. Sc in next dc. Sk 2 dc.) *5dc in next sc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst top of ch3. Slst in each of the next 3 dc. Drop yellow and pick up lavender.
RND 7: Ch1, sc in same st as slst. (Sk 2 dc. 5dc in next sc. Sk 2 dc.) *Sc in next dc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first sc. Drop lavender and pick up yellow.
RND 8: Ch3, 4dc in same st as slst. (Sk 2 dc. Sc in next dc. Sk 2 dc.) *5dc in next sc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Slst in each of the next 3 dc. Drop yellow and pick up lavender.

RND 13: Ch1. Ch1, sc in same st as slst. (Sk 3dc. 7dc in next sc. Sk 3 dc.) *Sc in next dc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first sc. Drop lavender and pick up yellow. Slip plastic egg into work, narrow end first. Now you will be working with the egg in the work.
RND 14: Ch3. 5dc in same st as slst. (Sk 3 dc. Sc in next dc. Sk 3 dc.) *6 dc in next sc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Slst in each of the next 2d and in to the next sp before the next dc. Drop yellow and pick up lavender.
RND 15: Ch1, sc in same sp as last slst. (Sk 3dc. 6dc in next sc. Sk 3 dc.) *Sc in next sp before next dc.. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first sc. Drop lavender and pick up yellow.
RND 16: Ch3, 4 dc in same st as slst. (Sk 3 dc. Sc in next dc. Sk 3 dc.) *5dc in next sc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Slst in each of the next 3dc. Fasten off yellow and pick up lavender.
RND 17: Ch1, sc in same st as last slst. (Sk 2 dc. 5dc in next sc. Sk 2 dc.) *Sc in next dc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first sc. Fasten off Lavender. Join white to same st as slst.
RND 18: Ch3. Dc in next st. Dcdec1. *Dc in each of the next 2 sts. Dcdec1. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 19: Ch3. Dcdec1. *Dc in next st. Dcdec1. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 20: Ch2. *Dcdec1. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first dcdec. Fasten off leaving an long tail. Weave end through last round and draw up tight to close hole. Weave rest of end into work.
