Tumbledown Trivet
Designed By Julie A. BolducThis crocheted trivet has a CD inside but you could just as easily keep the CD out of it to make it into a potholder. This trivet is named for a mountain here in Maine.
Materials Needed
Worsted weight cotton yarn in white and blue.
Size G/6 or 4.25mm aluminum crochet hook
1 old CD
Yarn needle for weaving in ends.
Yarn Thickness: 3mm
Gauge: 5dc = 1"
Finished Size: 5.25" diameter
Skill Level: Intermediate
Instructions
RND 1: W/blue, ch4, join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch1, 7sc in ring. Join w/slst to ch1.
RND 2: Ch2. Hdc in same st as slst. 2hdc in each sc around. Join w/slst to top of ch2.
RND 3: Ch3. Dc in same st as slst. Ch2. Sk 1 st. *2dc in next st. Ch2. Sk next st. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off blue.
RND 4: Join white in any skipped st of RND 2 behind ch2 sp. Ch3, 2dc in same st. Ch1. *3dc in next skipped st behind ch2 sp. Ch1. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 5: Ch1. (Sc in next st catching the ch2 sp in st. Sc in next dc of RND 4. 2sc in next ch1 sp.) *Sc in next dc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1.
RND 6: Ch3, dc in same st as slst. Ch2. Sk next st. *2dc in next st. Ch2. Sk next st. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off white.
RND 7: Join blue in any skipped st of RND 5 behind ch2 sp. Ch3, 2dc in same st. 3dc in each skipped st behind ch2 sp around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 8: Ch1. (Sc in next sc catching the ch2 sp in st. Sc in next st.) *Sc in next st. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1. Fasten off blue. Weave all ends into back of work.
Make 2nd side exactly the same.Finishing:
Hold front and back together, wrong sides facing each other. Join white yarn to the inside loops of both sides and work on the inside loops only all the way around. Ch1. Sc in each st around but slip the CD in before closing. Join w/slst to ch1. Fasten off and weave ends into work.
