Oval Make-Up Brush Cup

Oval Make-Up Brush Cup Designed By Julie A. Bolduc

This Make up brush cup is made from an Oval Shaped Crystal Light container and is weighted down with stones in the bottom. It can be used for pencils if you like or any other tall skinny thing you need to store.

Materials Needed
Size 10 crochet cotton in Red America's Best Country Cotton Crochet Thread was used in the example.
Size 10 Crochet cotton in Black. South Maid was used in the example.
Size 7 Steel crochet hook
An empty oval shaped Crystal Light Container with the lid removed.
About .25 - .5 cup small pebbles

Yarn Thickness: 10thread
Gauge: 8dc=1"
Finished Size: 5.25" x 3" x 2"

Oval Brush Cup

Instructions
RND 1: With Black. Ch12. 2dc in 4th ch from hook. Dc in each of the next 7 chs. 3dc in last ch. 3dc in same last ch but on the other side to turn corner. Dc in each of the next 7 sts. 3dc in last st. Join w/slst to top of ch3. (26dc)

RND 2: Ch3, dc in same st as slst. 2dc in each of the next 2 dc. Dc in each of the next 7 dc. 2dc in each of the next 6 dc. Dc in each of the next 7 dc. 2dc in each of the next 3 dc. Join w/slst to top of ch3. (38dc)

RND 3: Ch3, dc in same st as slst. Dc in next dc. 2dc in next dc, dc in next dc, twice. Dc in each of the next 7 dc. 2dc in next dc, dc in next dc, 6 times. Dc in each of the next 7 dc. 2dc in next dc, dc in next dc, 3 times. Join w/slst to top of ch3. (50dc)

RND 4: Ch3, dc in same st as slst. Dc in each of the next 2 dc. 2dc in next dc, dc in each of the next 2 dc, twice. 2dc in next dc. Dc in each of the next 6 dc. 2dc in next dc, dc in each of the next 2 dc, 6 times. 2dc in next dc. Dc in each of the next 6 dc. 2dc in next dc, dc in each of the next 2 dc, 3 times. Join w/slst to top of ch3. (64dc)

RND 5: Ch3. Working in back lp only for this round. Dc in each dc around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. (64dc)

RND 6: Ch3. Dc in each of the next 3 dc. Ch4. Sk 4 dc. *Dc in each of the next 4 dc. Ch4. Sk 4 dc. Rep from * around. Drop black but do not cut thread, join red then join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 7: Ch3. Dc in each of the next 3dc. Trbl in each of the 4 skipped dc behind ch4 sp. *Dc in each of the next 4 dc. Trbl in each of the next 4skipped dc behind ch4 sp. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 8: Ch3. Dc in next dc. Ch4. Sk next 4 sts. *Dc in each of the next 4 sts. Ch4. Sk 4 sts. Rep from * around. Dc in each of the last 2 sts. Drop red & pick up black then Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 9: Ch3. Dc in next dc. Trbl in each of the 4 skipped sts behind ch4 sp. *Dc in each of the next 4 sts. Trbl in each of the next 4 skipped sts behind ch4 sp. Rep from * around. Dc in each of the last 2 sts. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 10: Ch3. Dc in each of the next 4 sts. Ch4. Sk 4 sts. *Dc in each of the next 4 sts. Ch4. Sk 4 sts. Rep from * around. Drop black and pick up red then join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 11-26: Rep RNDs 7-10 consecutively 4 times.

RND 27: Rep RND 8.

RND 28: Rep RND 9. Fasten off and weave ends into back of work. Turn right side out if needed and slip over the bottom of the plastic oval container.

Pour stones or pebbles into bottom of container to fill about 1- 1.5 high. Stick brushes handle end down into stones to help keep them in place.
