Braid Stitch Scrunchie

This scrunchie uses the special stitch the braid stitch. It is fast and fun to make and you could make several in an evening.

Materials Needed
Small amount Red Heart worsted weight yarn in Red.
large hair elastic
Size H/8 or 5mm aluminum or wood crochet hook Yarn Needle for weaving in ends

Yarn Thickness: 4mm
Gauge: 4dc=1"
Finished Size: 5"diameter
Skill Level: Beginner

Braid Stitch (brd)
To do this stitch just insert your hook in the stitch indicated, draw up a loop, and while keeping the first loop on your hook, ch3 then yo and pull through both loops on hook.

Instructions

RND 1: Tie yarn onto elastic. Work 30 sc in elastic ring. Join w/slst to first sc.

RND 2: Ch3. Brd in next sc. *Dc in next sc. Brd in next sc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 3: You will be working in the spaces between the stitches on this rnd. Slst into the first sp. Sc in same sp. *Ch4, slst in 3rd ch from hook. Ch1. Sc in next 2 sps. Rep from * around ending with a w/s/st to first sc to join. Fasten off and weave ends into work.

Random Quick Tip!

Keeping Track
This is one hint I really have used. I use a plastic bread tab to mark rows on an afghan. It helps me to keep count. So much cheaper than the commercial ones. You can use several and place one every 5 rows to keep track where you are in your pattern.
