Fashion Doll Shrug
Designed by Julie A. Bolduc
This shrug would look cute with any of your doll's strapless dresses. It is easy to make and you could make a few in an evening. A great item to sell at a school bazaar. The dress the doll is wearing is a pattern I designed earlier and can be found for free on this site.

Now you are going to form the sleeves at the each end by joining the first and 9th row using slst in a certain way.
ROW 10: Fold piece lengthwise so that the first row is on the back side and the 9th row is facing you in the front. Slst in the back lp of the 9th row and then slst in the bottom edge of the first row. Then slst in the back lp of next st of 9th row then slst in next st on first row. Continue in this way until you have slst into 12 sts of both rows. Then working on row 9, hdc in each of the next 4 hdc, dc in each of the next 13 dc, hdc in each of the next 4 hdc. Then Slst to the end in the same way you did with the first 12 sts. Fasten off and weave ends into work.
To put this on the doll, just put the arms into the sleeves with row 10 as the top. Done.

Random Quick Tip!
Sewn CD TrivetsYou can make great trivets by using old CD's and heavy fabric. Make 2 circles of heavy fabric & 2circles of terry towel fabric 1" bigger in diameter than the CD.Then layer the pieces in the following way. Heavy fabric, right side down, terry towel, CD, terry towel, heavy fabric right side up. Hand baste the layers together 3/8" away from the edges being carful not to hit the CD. Then on your sewing machine, work a zigzag around the edges to lock in the frayed edges. Then you can use a decorative crochet thread or yarn and a hand needle to work a blanket stitch around the edge. Then if you wanted to, you can work a row of crochet stitches around on the blanket stitches.
