Soccer Ball

This great soccer ball is regulation size and I designed it based on a plush soccer ball my daughter had. I did not have any black yarn so I used the pretty amethyst color you see here. Even my husband likes it!!

Materials Needed
3oz White worsted weight acrylic yarn Red Heart was used in the example
3 oz amethyst worsted weight acrylic yarn Red Heart was used in the example
Size G/6 aluminum crochet hook
Polyester Fiber fill
Yarn needle for weaving in ends

Yarn Thickness: 4mm
Gauge: round 1 of the hexagon is 1 5/8" diam
Finished Size: 8" diam
Skill Level: Advanced

Instructions
Pentagons Make 12RND 1: With amethyst. Ch5. Join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch3. 14dc in ring. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 2: Ch3. Dc in same st as slst. 2hdc in next st. 2dc in next st. Ch1. *2dc in next st. 2hdc in next st. 2dc in next st. Ch1. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off and weave all ends in to back of work.

Hexagons Make 20RND 1: With white. Ch6. Join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch3. 17dc in ring. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 2: Ch3. Dc in same st as slst. 2hdc in next st. 2dc in next st. Ch1. *2dc in next st. 2hdc in next st. 2dc in next st. Ch1. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off and weave all ends in to back of work.

Finishing
Stitch all motifs together, with a whip stitch, following the way it looks in the picture. Start with 5 hexagons around a pentagon and work out from there. I made 2 halves then stitched two halves together. Stuff tightly before closing with the polyester fiberfill.
