Simple Fingerless Mittens

Simple Fingerless Mittens

This crochet pattern was designed to go with the Simple Leg Warmers also available on this site. It is fast and easy to make and you could make a pair in an evening or two. There is even a left and right hand to this pattern.

Materials Needed
Worsted weight acrylic yarn in desired color. Red Heart Soft was used in the example
Size H/8 or 5mm aluminum crochet hook.
Yarn Needle for weaving in ends

Yarn Thickness: 3mm
Gauge: 4dc = 1"
Finished Size: Fits an adult woman's hand
Skill Level: Beginner to intermediate

Special Stitch Used: Decrease (Dec): Insert hook in next st, pull up a loop, insert hook in next st, pull up a loop, yo, pull through all 3 lps on hook.

Instructions
Right Hand: Cuff
ROW 1: Ch11. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch1, turn.

ROW 2-27: Working in back loops only, sc in each sc across. Ch1, turn.

Joining first row to last row.
Fold in half so the first row lines up with the last row and so the row where you left off is in front and the ending loop is on the right. Insert hook in last stitch worked and in matching stitch on first row. Work a slip stitch. Sc in same st and in each st across to end working through both layers at the same time. Ch1. Do not fasten off. You now have a tube. You are now going to work around the edge of the cuff to form the wrist.

Palm & Fingers Section
RND 1:Sc in each row around so you end up with 28 sc around. Join w/slst to first sc.

RND 2: Ch3. Dc in each sc around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 3: Ch1. Sc in same st as slst. Sc in each st around. Join w/slst to first sc.

RND 4: Repeat RND 2.
RND 5: Repeat RND 3.
RND 6: Repeat RND 2.

RND 7: Ch1. Sc in same st as slst. Sc in each of the next 25 dc. 2sc in each of the next 2dc. Join w/slst to first sc. (30 sc)

RND 8: Ch3. Dc in each of the next 25 sc. 2dc in next sc. Dc in each of the next 2 sc. 2dc in next sc. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 9: Ch1. Sc in same st as slst. Sc in each of the next 25 dc. 2sc in next dc. Dc in each of the next 4 dc. 2sc in next dc. Join w/slst to first sc.

RND 10: Ch3. Dc in each of the next 25 sc. 2dc in next sc. Dc in each of the next 6 sc. 2dc in next sc. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 11: Ch1. Sc in same st as slst. Sc in each of the next 25 dc. 2sc in next dc. Dc in each of the next 8 dc. 2sc in next dc. Join w/slst to first sc.

RND 12: Ch3. Dc in each of the next 25 sc. 2dc in next sc. Dc in each of the next 10 sc. 2dc in next sc. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 13: Ch1. Sc in same st as slst. Sc in each of the next 25 dc. Dec 1. Sc in next st. Dec 1. Sc in each of the next 4 dc. Dec 1. Sc in next st. Dec 1. Join w/slst to first sc.

RND 14: Ch3. Dc in each of the next 25 sc. Join w/slst to top of ch3. This forms the thumb hole and the fingers section.

RND 15: Ch1. Sc in same st as slst. Sc in each st around. Join w/slst to first sc.

RND 16: Ch3. Dc in each sc around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 17: Ch1. Sc in same st as slst. Join w/slst to first sc. Fasten off and weave ends into back of work. While weaving in the fingers section, work down toward the bottom of the dc of RND 14 to close the stitches together.

Left Hand
Cuff: Repeat cuff of right hand.

Palm & Fingers Section
Repeat RNDs 1-6 of Right Hand
RND 7: Ch1. Sc in same st as slst. 2sc in each of the next 2 sts. Sc in each of the next 25 dc. Join w/slst to first sc.

RND 8: Ch3. 2dc in next sc. Dc in each of the next 2 sc. 2dc in next sc. Dc in each of the next 25 sts. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 9: Ch1. Sc in same st as slst. 2sc in next st. Sc in each of the next 4 sts. 2sc in next st. Sc in each of the next 25 dc. Join w/slst to first sc.

RND 10: Ch3. 2dc in next sc. Dc in each of the next 6 sc. 2dc in next sc. Dc in each of the next 25 sc. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 11: Ch1. Sc in same st as slst. 2sc in next st. Sc in each of the next 8 sts. 2sc in next st. Sc in each of the next 25 dc. Join w/slst to first sc.

RND 12: Ch3. 2dc in next sc. Dc in each of the next 10 sc. 2dc in next sc. Dc in each of the next 25 sc. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 13: Ch1. Sc in same st as slst. Dec 1. Sc in next st. Dec 1. Sc in each of the next 4 sts. Dec 1. Sc in each of the next 25 sts. Join w/slst to first sc.

RND 14: Ch3. Sk next 10 sts. Dc in each of the next 25 sc. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 15: Ch1. Sc in same st as slst. Sc in each st around. Join w/slst to first sc.

RND 16: Ch3. Dc in each sc around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 17: Ch1. Sc in same st as slst. Sc in each st around. Join w/slst to first sc. Fasten off and weave ends into back of work as before.
