Child's Crown Hat
Designed by Julie A Bolduc
This hat sort of looks like a crown and would look great in any color for either boys or girls. It can be made in an evening so it is a quick gift idea. If you need to make the hat bigger or smaller just change the size of the hook and perhaps even the thickness of the yarn used. This is also the first time I am featuring a stitch that I did not make up. This is a well known stitch but some of you may not have tried it before.

Pom-Pom
Place two pieces of carboard together and wrap yarn around carboard pieces going around the narrow sides 200 times. Cut yarn. Cut a piece of yarn about 14" long and pass through the pieces of carboard and tie in a tight knot on one side. As tight as you can. Slip the carboard out of wrapped yarn and trim pom pom to desired size and shape. You may need to retie the yarn to make it even tighter. Sew pom-pom to top of hat. Weave ends into inside of hat.
