Beth's Hat

This crochet hat is a direct result from a request from a lady who works in my office at the Ski resort I work at. She wanted a hat with a large puffy crown for tucking long hair in and it had to have a visor. This is what I came up with and she loves it! You can make this in just one color if you like.
Materials Needed
3oz Worsted weight acrylic yarn in 2 colors, soft white and country blue. Red Heart Super Saver was used in the example.
Size H/8 or 5mm aluminum crochet hook
Yarn Needle for weaving in ends
Yarn Thickness: 4mm
Gauge: 4dc=1"
Finished Size: Fits an adult woman's head
Skill Level: Beginner to intermediate
Instructions
RND 1: With Soft white or main color. Ch4. Join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch3. Dc in ring. Ch1. 2dc in ring, ch1, 5 times. Join w/slst to top of ch3. (6 ch1 sps)
RND 2: Do not chain 1. Slst into the next dc. Ch3, dc in same st as last slst. 2dc in next ch1 sp. Ch1. Sk next dc. *2dc in next dc. 2dc in next ch1 sp. Ch1. Sk next dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 3: Slst into the next dc. Ch3. Dc in same st. Dc in each of the next 2dc. 2dc in next ch1 sp. Ch1. Sk next dc. *2dc in next dc. Dc in each of the next 2 dc. 2dc in next ch1 sp. Ch1. Sk next dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 4: Slst into the next dc. Ch3. Dc in same st. (Dc in next st. 2dc in each of the next 2 sts. Dc in next 2dc in next ch1 sp. Ch1. Sk next st.) *2dc in next st. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 5: Slst into the next dc. Ch3. Dc in same st. (Dc in each of the next 9 dc. 2dc in next ch1 sp. Ch1. Sk next dc. ) *Dc in next dc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 6-16: Slst into the next dc. Ch3. (Dc in each of the next 10 dc. Dc in next ch1 sp. Ch1. Sk next dc.) *Dc in next dc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
At the end of RND 16, you can fasten off and join blue or continue with the same color. RND 17: Ch1. Sc in each of the next 4 dc. Dec 1. Sc in each of the next 5 dc. Sk ch1 sp. *Sc in each of the next 5 dc. Dec 1. Sc in each of the next 5 dc. Sk next ch1 sp. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1.
RND 18-22: Ch1. Sc in each sc around. Join w/slst to ch1.
Visor: ROW 1: Working on back side of work around posts of each st, sc in each of the next 30 sts. Ch1, turn.
ROW 2-4: Sc in each sc across. Ch1, turn.
ROW 5: Dec 1. Sc in each of the next 26 sc. Dec 1. Ch1, turn.
ROW 6: Dec 1. Sc in each of the next 24 sc. Dec 1. Ch1, turn.
ROW 7: Dec 1. Sc in each of the next 22 sc. Dec 1. Ch1, turn.
ROW 8: Dec 1. Sc in each of the next 20 sc. Dec 1. Ch1, turn.
ROW 9: Dec 1. Sc in each of the next 18 sc. Dec 1. Fasten off.
Join yarn in same st as slst on RND 22, where the visor begins. Work 1 sc in each row up side, work 1 sc in each sc across ROW 9, work 1sc in each row down other side. Slst in same st as 30th sc in RND 22. Fasten off and weave ends into back of work.
