Increasing & Decreasing in Crochet

How to increase

Within the round. Work 2 stitches in the same stitch. Space the increases evenly in the round. For example every 4th st or every other stitch depending on what the instructions indicate. In some  s there will be increases at odd places. Be sure to follow the instructions carefully

On the ends. Work 2 stitches in first or last stitch. This is the most often method used for increasing when working in rows.

Random Quick Tip!

Inexpesive Book Ends!
Make a pair of bookends with small red bricks! You can leave them plain or cover them up with anything you can imagine. I covered one with plastic canvas and a Cat made with plastic Canvas. You could also cover them with scrapbook paper, a crocheted cover or quilting cotton. The possiblities are endless!
